Ami Burnham, CPM, RN, IBCLC

Ami Burnham is a Licensed Midwife, Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She began her healthcare career with a certificate in Massage Therapy in 1997, which led her to midwifery school two years later. Ami began attending births in 2000 as a student at the Seattle Midwifery School, a three-year direct-entry midwifery program, from where she graduated in 2002. In June of 2005 she sat for her lactation boards and became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Ami returned to school in 2007 and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from San Francisco State University in May 2009.

Ami has worked as a midwife, lactation consultant, childbirth and prenatal educator as well as a facilitator for new parents groups at various locations. She has been invited to speak at midwifery and obstetric conferences as well as university classrooms and has volunteered to train midwives and traditional birth attendants in Haiti and Sierra Leone.

Ami and her family moved to Hood River, OR. in the summer of 2020. She worked with and then directed the Columbia Gorge Postpartum Support Group, she currently works as a nurse and lactation consultant at Kaiser Westside in Hillsboro, and is continuing with her private lactation and parenting practice in and around the Columbia River Gorge.
